Steven J. Beer, MD, FAANS
Dr. Beer specializes in treating brain and spinal tumors, peripheral nerve disorders, herniated disk, spine fractures, spondylolisthesis. He specializes in the conservative and operative management of brain and spinal disorders.
Dr. Beer was born in 1965 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa,, and attended college at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, where he received his BSS in Biology and Chemistry in 1988 and where he was a reseacher in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry and did epidermal growth factor isolation, purification and monoclonal antibody preparation.
Dr. Beer then received his Medical Doctorate in 1992 from the University of Iowa, where he was named First Surgical Assistant in Neurological Surgery at Mercy Hospital in both Mason City, IA, and Paducah, KY, from 1989 to 1991. He was also a research assistant in the Division of Neurological Surgery in the University of Iowa's Department of Surgery from 1990 to 1994.
Dr. Beer's appointment have included the Stueland Research Fellowship at the University of Iowa's Division of Neurological Surgery from 1986 to 1987. He was a postdoctoral fellow at UI's Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery from 1995 to 1997, and he was a teaching assistant in Neuroanatomy from 1996 to 1997 at University of Iowa's College of Medicine.
Dr. Beer was the Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center's School of Medicine in Denver. Then from 2003 to 2006 he was on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty of the Cheyenne office of the University of Wyoming's Family Residency Program in Neurosurgery.
